Memorial to:   praxis
Political PartyRepublican     State:  KY
Channel Regular:  praxis began coming to the channel about 1993  (about 13 years)
Died:  9/3/2006
praxis was 42 at the time of his death.  He left a young son,  a daughter who had given him two granddaughters, two brothers, and a sister.

Following is from the Memorial that was held in the channel on 9/5/2006:

Those of you who remember Praxis or Praxis9 I have some sad news. He passed away suddenly Saturday, of an apparent heart attack. Praxis would have been 43 this month. He had one son, two brothers, and a sister. While he still could, he requested that if he died, his friends here, be notified. He loved this channel .. and he thought of us at the end
Praxis went through a divorce that left him very angry .. and bitter. Particularly with regard to women. He was a very intelligent but complex man. When he was in the right mood, he offered sharp debate. Politically he was pretty far right.  Did you know that in about 1993, praxis designed the very first IRCP website (PoliticsChat.net)?  He was our webmaster for a while Then he taught me how to maintain the website
Over-the-years, there was a personality change that made me suspect praxis had some other problems.
He would get angry a lot .. and he would leave the channel for 2-3 weeks .. which was about as long as he could stay away .. hehe Sometimes he was pleasant .. sometimes he was not, but whatever else he was .. he was *our* praxis.

"A man or woman is never truly dead, so long as a single person has some
knowledge or rememberance of them." .. Author Unknown

I hope that some of you will share some of your favorite posts that praxis made to make sure he is remembered. Goodbye praxis .. may you rest in peace.
From your IRC pals .. CometBaby, FreeTrade and #politics EFnet

Following are some of the favorite praxis posts, that panini, put together for us:
<monkey`> the resources of a nation do not belong to the nation!
<praxis9> monkey: They belong to the cosmos...

<MiDave> wasnt the WMD the raisson d'etre of US troops in Iraq?
<pilgrim`> MiDave naw. ITS ALL ABOUT THE SAND!
<praxis9> It's all about the sand between liberals' ears.

<DevoX97> I've been to foxnews.com a couple of times... and each time, I see headlines like "Rag-heads Upset with Bush's Perfection"
<praxis9> Liberals now live in fear of an oppressed Third World people.

<CSharp> The Left is still searching for the liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh.
<praxis9> The liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh is Michael Moron.

<DevoX97> Dirk_IIV: Well, according to most GOP screamers, that would mean all the anti-war protesters should get bombed.
<praxis9> Devo: Not bombed, you fool. We want them to chant. That makes them even more idiotic.

<roygbiv^^> I would even venture to say most Iraqis are relieved to see Saddam go..
<roygbiv^^> That doesn't mean they support America coming in to take his place.
<praxis9> roybgiv: Nah. They could have waited on liberals and the UN. Their freedom would have taken, say, about ten thousand years.

<DevoX97> Israel and Palestine both need an ass whoopin.
<praxis9> Devo: Next stop Berkeley, San Francisco.

<praxis9> Ignorance is Blix.

<praxis9> Question: How do you make Pelosi's jaw hit the floor?
<praxis9> Answer: Remove the staples from the back of her head.

<blazini> if it wasnt for the greeks there probably wouldnt be dildos
<praxis9> blazini: I've never studied the history of the dildo, so I'm at a loss.
<praxis9> I'm going to, though.

<leep> but private sectors dominate only because the support goes to them because of capitalism
<praxis9> The private sector dominates because, by its very nature, it is more efficient.
<praxis9> The public sector doesn't have to compete. It is not efficient.

<Mantra^> Swigert: considering they fled the answer is obvious..but the UN still backs castro...so he must be a good guy right ?
<praxis9> The UN is a Stalinist shithole.

<DStewart> Human Rights Watch managed to find human rights offenses to be concerned about during the war's first days, on whose part? Why, not the Iraqis, who were using human shields, slaughtering innocents, car-bombing marketplaces to make up lies about the US targeting civilians---but on the part of the coalition and US, who were taking great pains to avoid any civilian deaths.
<praxis9> In the future, I'm going to start my own Stalinist human rights organization.

<praxis9> People who want to tax other people should be taxed.

<cathy_n> I visit a nice family in Holland once or twice a year. The father of the family is a millionaire. He said to me over dinner one night how happy he is to pay such high taxes, because he knows that people less fortunate will be helped.
<praxis9> I'm touched by such altruism. I really am.
<praxis9> It makes me want to puke in a bucket.

<TeraT> U.S.A. = Leading Terrorist State
* Pickle sets mode: -v TeraT
<praxis9> TeraT = Leading idiot.

<Pickle> What magical process does an infant undergo when it passes through a woman's vagina to immediately endow it with humanity?
<praxis9> Pickle: That "magical process" is the solipsism of the female brain

<PersiaSky> mantra, we fight a ten year war with the cancer saddam, but yes we had our own cancer khomeini, and over a million and 5 died, but i still wish the best for the people of Iraq. I am happy the united states take the step to remove him
<praxis9> What? That Saddam bastard? We're going to kill him and send his gonads to Chirac in a wine bottle.
<praxis9> With a little French Moet and Chandon.
<praxis9> And as a tribute to Duchamp, the bottle will read: "One set of Persian gonads, with Moet and Chandon. For M. Chirac."
<praxis9> God damn I'm clever.

<Twobar> mankind is a disease. To the mighty brain of the liberal, the fetus is the same as the spooge you emit when you sneeze.
<praxis9> Twobar: Nietzsche said that first.

<praxis9> Fans are eagerly awaiting “The Matrix Reloaded” — but it’s made some people very unhappy. The villains in the flick are a pair of white-skinned, white-haired, red-eyed twins, and groups representing albinos say the movie unfairly stereotypes pigment-challenged individuals.
<praxis9> God, when will the egalitarian horse shit end.

<praxis9> I'd like to start a cult, but I want really good minions. Not the sort of flakes and nuts you see so often nowadays. Smart, stable, wealthy folks.

<praxis9> Clinton was a degenerate liar.
<praxis9> And I voted for the dickhead.

<Amenra> HMOs are about as corrupt as the gov
<praxis9> HMOs were invented by another idiot liberal.
<praxis9> His name is Ted Kennedy.

<praxis9> In the first week of May Canadians had to live down the embarrassment of sending 25 reconnaissance troops to Afghanistan unarmed because no one bothered to sign the necessary Military Technical Agreement papers by which the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operates with the interim Afghani rulers.
<praxis9> Ah, Canuckistan.
<praxis9> Good hearts. No brains.

<praxis9> Hmm... A professor "Pervo" (his real name) has been busted for kiddie porn at the University of Minnesota.
<praxis9> A Richard Pervo
<praxis9> "Dick" Pervo... busted for kiddie porn. Go figure.

<panini> the only question is, who is sleazier, hillary's bro or bill's bro??
<praxis9> panini: I can't make my mind up. Right now, just on the merits of blubber and slack-jawed cluelessness, I'm going with Hillary's brother.

<Prosaik> praxis: Chronic amnesia runs in Democrat families.
<praxis9> Yeah, part of the Hale-Bopp conspiracy.

<Byll> What exactly did Clinton pardon Rich for? I don't believe anything has been specified.
<praxis9> Byll: For laundering billions, selling arms, raping Russia, the usual.

<praxis9> Why... I just finished a copy of Durer's famous Hare, and I think it could easily pass for the original. Yes, praxis has a mighty pen.
<praxis9> My pen is mighty! Did I mention that already? :)

<praxis9> The SAT is racist, you know. So are IQ tests.
<praxis9> Yes, there are many racial conspiracies you have to look out for.g.
<praxis9> English is racist. Frosty the Snowman is a sexist oppressuh of the Great White Hegemony.
<Bootleggr> praxis, anything that prevents this utopian equality that liberals seek is always racist, unfair, etc
<Twobar> snow is racist
<Twobar> it's the wrong color
<^rcane> crack is racist
<praxis9> The shamrock is racist, too. Christmas is racist.
<praxis9> The justice system is racist. Cops are racist. The GRE is a racist plot to keep blacks out of graduate school.
<praxis9> Asians are racists. Jews are racist. Whites are racist.
<praxis9> Gosh, there's just a whole lot of racism.

<praxis9> I'm working on my hate right now. I have beer to drink.

<`STINGRAY> praxis hey i sent the wife to the sore to get some pepsicola and she said they didnt have pelosicola on the shelfs
<praxis9> Sting: :)
<praxis9> Pelosi is Skeletor, man.

<praxis9> Bowling for Columbine was a crockumentary.

<praxis9> Anyone have a spare liberal I can have?
<pilgrim`> praxis sorry fresh out
<praxis9> I need train one to fetch mah slippers.
<DStewart> praxis, liberals are untrainable after 19.
<praxis9> They're smug little idiots.

<parthenon> you idiots americanski
<praxis9> parthenon: After the Persian war, when the Greeks again united, what was it called?
<praxis9> parthenon: Answer, oh wise one. Surely an uncultured American cannot know.
<praxis9> The Delian League.
<praxis9> The battle of Marathon took place at 490BC. The two kings were Xerxes and Darius.
<praxis9> Let's talk about Plato or Aristotle. I want to shame the smug little Greek.
<pilgrim`> I find it interesting that the peoples who did more for launching western civilization 2 millinium ago....have added so little....since
<praxis9> pilgrim: It's because they made Socrates drink the hemlock...
<parthenon> praxis your joke is sick
<praxis9> parthenon: Which book of Plato's Republic details Socrates' death?
<praxis9> parthenon: What is the meaning of the "ship of Delos?"
<praxis9> parthenon: Come on, Greek boy.
<praxis9> Which Greek poet is famous for his hatred of women?

<praxis9> I'm a hick. I live in Kentucky.
<praxis9> An illiterate boob, you might say.

<praxis9> The French are such smug idiots.

<praxis9> Ebay, in a word, rules.
<praxis9> Seven minutes to go...
<praxis9> Six minutes...
<praxis9> I just got a first edition of Twain's American Claimant for a little over a hundred bucks.
<praxis9> Woot!

<Mantra^> cow methane produces a hundred times the so-called greenhouse gasses that cars do
<praxis9> Yeah, but you can't tax cow shit.

<praxis9> People who want to tax other people should be taxed.

<praxis9> Yeah. And what a proud political history you have as a socialist.
<praxis9> I mean, not only can you lay claim to mass murder, you can even lay claim to wrecking every socialist economy on the planet.
<praxis9> Quite a legacy, really.

<praxis9> I guess these "inner landscapes" are Color Field paintings, eh?
<panini> yeah... kinda like if van gogh was a radiologist
<ScuZzy160> art comes from within, you cannot "learn" it
<praxis9> Or maybe a bit of 19th century American Luminism.
<praxis9> Scuzzy: Yeah. What crap that is.
<ScuZzy160> you can learn design
<ScuZzy160> there are elements of design as far as layout and colour theory that can be learned
<praxis9> Scuzzy: Can drawing or painting be learned?
<panini> praxis9 to an extent
<praxis9> panini: Yes? What "extent?"
<ScuZzy160> but these are just tools, and have nothing to do with artistry
<panini> yeah like picasso
<ScuZzy160> ummm
<ScuZzy160> no
<panini> or Pollock
<ScuZzy160> Picasso was an excellent classical painter
<ScuZzy160> incredible really
<praxis9> Oh, good. It's an art discussion.
<ScuZzy160> his proportional human form was on par with Raphael
<panini> naw
<JohnC> can art really be good or bad? Can you subject art to the notion of quality?
<ivy^> some like modigliani are not so clear...
<ScuZzy160> Picasso simply chose to reject conventional classical painting
<panini> picasso's figures were always too fat
<ScuZzy160> but he was as good as you can get
<praxis9> Picasso was a Cubist. I'm sure you know what that's all about.
<ScuZzy160> perhaps he rejected classical painting because he was so good.. it was not a challenge for him
<ivy^> grandma moses was an artist but not a draftsman...
<panini> if drawing ability was all there is, the Bouguereau would be the best artist
<ScuZzy160> personally, I much prefer classical painting to impressionistic
<praxis9> Someone explain Cubism for us.
<panini> there's not that much to it praxis9
<praxis9> Or maybe we'll have a talk about Duchamp.
<Mantra^> Picasso was demented and painted what was in his head... thats why when he kissed someone it was always on the eye :/
<praxis9> Everyone knows about art.
<panini> it's just the idea of showing a subject from multiple vantage points simulataneously
<praxis9> panini: Indeed. And why is that significant?
<panini> praxis9 shrug... it was just a fad... like pointillism was
<panini> praxis9 when it's new, people think it's cool
<praxis9> There are reasons why artists do what they do. There are reasons why Cubism was important.
<ivy^> It's the birthday of painter Georges Braque, born in Argenteuil-sur-Seine, France in 1882. He painted scenes of villages where the buildings were reduced to their basic geometrical shape, the cube, and along with Pablo Picasso became a leader of Cubism. Georges Braque said: "There is only one valuable thing in art: the thing you cannot explain."
<panini> praxis9 yes, but those reasons are only constructed retroactively by art historians
<praxis9> panini: Wrong. The reasons were widely discussed by Cubists themselves.
<panini> praxis9 no artist says to himself, "i am doing it this way because it's *significant*"... they say, " i'm doing it because it looks cool!"
<praxis9> panini: Is that so?
<panini> ivy: there ya go
<panini> art is that which you cannot explain
<ivy^> :)
<bahmrive> I can explain art: GAY.
<ivy^> even though you cannot explain it, you can describe it in part...
<ivy^> and most importantly you can experience it
<praxis9> The consensus seems to be that "art means whatever you want it to mean" and that "artists create art because it looks cool."

<Gekko> Praxis: do you consider laughing at a death row prisoners last prayer evil?
<praxis9> Gekko: Was it a particularly bad prayer?

<pilgrim`> cutting off his head and shitting down the whole, now THAT is far more touchy feely
<pilgrim`> gekko I would laugh, then assure him the minute the lghts were out I would piss on his body. then I would look him straight in the eye and pull the switch PERSONALLY
<pilgrim`> but then. I am a far more sensitive sort
<praxis9> pilgrim: You're very sensitive.
<praxis9> The death penalty makes me dance and sing.
<praxis9> Nah. As Aristotle said, "It is unjust to treat unequal things equally." That is why I dance when degenerates and scumbags get theirs.

<praxis9> Arabs have to get worked up over something. I mean, what the fuck would you do surrounded by sand, eh?
<praxis9> You would want to lash out. Admit it, heathen swine!
<praxis9> Fucking sand everywhere. What the hell would you do? You would want to blame someone for the god damn sand...
<praxis9> You would walk around and think, "All the fuck that is here is sand. Why, God? Why the fuck did you give us only sand?" And you would want to blame some god damn bastard for all that sand.
<praxis9> Yeah. You would.
<tttwisted> praxis: that is possibly the best analysis i have heard yet

<praxis9> France: The Power of Cheese.

<Pickle> Barbara Boxer needs to take that goddam flag off of her lapel.
<praxis9> A flag on Boxer is like a cross on a vampire.
<praxis9> That brainless bitch.

<praxis9> Masochist: Hit me!
<praxis9> Sadist: No!

<MPouxesas> media serves corporate greed :)
<praxis9> Oooh. Corporate greed.
<praxis9> As opposed to, say, any other kind of greed.
<praxis9> The phrase "corporate greed" is boring, moralistic tripe.

<kybele> look back in history, once humanity did live in the nature, they thought the earth was flat as a pancake, they thought the moon was a cheese
<praxis9> I still think the moon is made of cheese.
<praxis9> Blue cheese, mostly.

<praxis9> A stupid man is born a stupid man by an act of Providence.

<praxis9> America's new mission was and remains: Extirpating the flaming nutballs and the societies that nurture them

<praxis9> Saphire: Guinness is fine. The Storm King makes it look like a snack, though. :)
<praxis9> I shit thee not.

* praxis9 smacks Rebec upside the head with a three-toed sloth.L
<Rebec> praxis why'd you slap me with that thing
<praxis9> Rebec: It was a sloth. Sloths don't hurt.

<praxis9> I don't believe that *some* people even have souls. Take liberals, for instance.
<praxis9> There are liberals, then great apes, then mollusks and worms.

<H_Dubyus> the rich have a responsibility to society--if they don't take it up through individual charity, then the government must take up the slack...and squeeze them for it
<praxis9> H_Dubyus: Yeah. And the poor have the responsibility to be stupid, fuck like rabbits, and whine.
<praxis9> Oh, and I forgot that they also have the responsibility to show up at the liquor store at 8:00 sharp.o

* praxis9 has quit IRC (A Sensitive Liberal Male)

<praxis9> Yes. Mars is warming up. It's because of my Honda.

<praxis9> The liberals are upset over speech again. I sense that censorship is their next ideological move.

<praxis9> I can almost hear the glee in the voice of the ABC radio announcer every time they report an American soldier has been killed.
<praxis9> They're such sick bastards.

<praxis9> Liberals aren't in favor of death. They love security. They love nihilism, however.

<praxis9> Aww, democrats are people of caring, compassion. They never tire of telling everyone about how much they "care." They feel your pain - unless they've caused it.

<TomM--> goldmembr be nice....they are not as radical as you think...they are misguided. Calling them names does not help. We must educate...:)
<goldmembr> TomM--: you can't teach a retarded dog new tricks
<praxis9> gold: No. You can, however, teach a retarded and snivelling liberal how to roll over.

<praxis9> We could all adopt Libertarianism and become responsible social hedonists, you know.
<praxis9> Or maybe we could all become nihilists, like the wonderful liberals are.

<praxis9> I have a friend who was in an interesting automobile accident.
<praxis9> She was with this woman, who was driving in Cincinnati. And the woman sold sex toys for a living.
<praxis9> And she had a freakin' bowling ball in her trunk, along with various dildos, vibrators, things that go bump in the night.
<praxis9> And they got rear-ended in the middle of downtown.
<praxis9> And the freakin' bowling ball crashed through the trunk, the dildos flew out onto the pavement.
<praxis9> And they were buzzing, crawling, moving in the middle of the road. And people were standing there staring.
<praxis9> My friend was laughing, and this idiot woman was running around trying to sell them.
<praxis9> The cops? They were trying to be all business.
<praxis9> It's actually a true story. If you knew Audrey, you would be a believer.

<praxis9> I like Rather's hair now. But it covers a rather pathetic brain.

<T^Soprano> why the hell should an operating system take up 2 gigabytes.
<praxis9> Why? Because the wonderful computer scientists at Microsloth and elsewhere believe that complexity = evolution.
<praxis9> They are wrong about that.

<praxis9> I had a friend in college with a mohawk. It was jet black, at least a foot tall.
<praxis9> He was a great guy, actually. He eventually shaved it all off and became a conservative who carried a gun to class in his backpack.
<praxis9> Haha

<praxis9> likanoir: Gin and tonic is good, but I usually abstain from alcohol. I come from a long line of degenerate drunkards, so I don't want to give my genome any ideas.

<praxis9> Sting: I'm working on a 1954 Chevy pickup street rod. 327, Trick Flow heads, lots of aluminum. It has a Powerglide in it right now.
<praxis9> Sting: I put a shift kit and aB&M filter kit in it, so it's a lot better than before...

<praxis9> A San Diego computer programmer who has spent £100,000 on tattoos and plastic surgery to turn himself into a 'tiger' wants a fur graft.
<praxis9> Can we say, "Issues?"
